fuel lines

Guys need help/suggestions.
Just bought a mustang that has the braided flexible fuel lines throughout. The car is literally stinking my family out of the house (2 kids under 13 months). I am having to leave a window open in garage with a fan on high to keep out gas fumes.(Increased my power bill big time) The majority of the smell seems to be coming from the lines directly under the car because the interior is awful. Do I have to change all lines out? If so how expensive? Could I splice into the lines and just change lines from around the headers to the external fuel pump behind the gas tank and see if that helps and leave the braided lines around the motor? Is that even possible? A local mechanic said it could cost anywhere around $500.00 just for new lines and fittings. I believe the lines are size 8 and size 6. I am running 42 lbs injectors to a supercharged 306.

Thanks for all your advice.

Do you have a leak? Im running -10 feed to a y -8 to the rails and regulator then -6 to a b&m trans cooler and finally a -6 return. My car sits in an enclosed garage and you have a faint fuel smell if you walk in the garage but nothing in the house. Pushlock hoses dont do that from what Ive read. And it would be much cheaper than the braided lines. Plus they are NHRA approved.

Is it the fuel lines, or the tank vent line? There is a vapor line that runs from the tank to a canister up front on the passenger side. If that vapor return line is rotted or just missing, it will vent fumes to atmosphere. Might wanna look into that before suspecting the fuel lines.

Im just assuming its the fuel lines. What does the canister look like and what does the tank vent line look like? Would braided lines be that bad to stink up the whole house? I cant find a leak on the garage floor but I was wondering if maybe it was evaporating before it got to that point.

thanks for the replies so far,
