The head on my driverside brakeline has rounded off and I want to replace it. Anyone know what size it is? I know I can cut the line and remove the nut and take it with me, but I was hoping to just buy one while I'm out sometime then do all the work at once.

It's the one that screws into the brake cliper soft line on the frame side

I know the brake line is 3/16 in size, but not sure of the thread size/pitch of the fitting

Anyone?

I guess I'll just cut it off and take it to the parts store with me while the brake line oozes fluid

either way you're still gonna have to cut it off to replace it. theres never any harm in bleeding your brake lines. The only other thing I can think of is to grip the rounded off nut with vice-grips and wrenching on the larger nut on the hose connection to separate the two.

yeah I know, but it oozing brake fluid for 5 mins while I re-flare it is better than 30+ minutes while I run to Napa or CarQuest.

The fiting rounded a while ago when I swapped over to dual piston PBR calipers and I ended up using vice grips to get it off. It's back on and not leaking, but I want to switch that tube nut out now while the car is still up with wheels off and I'm working in that area so I don't run into problems down the road

OK, well removed the front hardline from the car and took it to NAPA and found out some things

First off, the fitting that goes into the ABS modual is a 3/16x12-1.0

The fitting that goes to the soft front brake line is a standard 7/16" thread...BUT it is a 3/16" line (has a smaller hole in the middle than a 7/16"). So basically I had to use a 3/16" tube nut then use a 7/16" adapter fitting going into the softline to the brake caliper.

Ford uses the smaller line but bigger fittings....go figure
