When do you have "the fuel smell"? The charcoal canister will do zero for exhaust smells.

 

I smell it both sitting in my garage and while driving. I guess you can say it’s more of an exhaust smell then a straight gasoline smell.

 

While running in the garage? Does the car have catalytic converters? Off-road pipe? Is it tuned? What's the engine combo? Is it stock?

 

No when sitting in the garage. It does have off road h pipe no cats

 

sounds like an exhaust smell.

But, you should have the charcoal canister hooked correctly.
gas tank vent to canister, canister to purge valve, purge valve to manifold vacuum.

 

Ok I’ll have to check at the tank today. Make sure it’s connected. I see the hook up to the purge valve and the intake manifold but not sure it’s going to the tank. I feel like I only have 2 hoses coming out of the canister I’ll have to reinspect when I get home.

 

 

Is anything suppose to be connect the circled inputs or only in the 2 smaller connections. I ask that because one of the larger inputs has a cap and the other does not on my canister

 

No hoses to those ports, they should both be capped. You may have a break in the hose from the tank
