Any experience or opinions about these heads?

Any articles on head comparos that include these?

With heads you get what you pay for. Its an entry level head, with entry level performance gains. Nothing wrong with that but again, you get what you pay for.

And that's where I am. Not trying to have the fastest car or the best numbers at dyno day. Just something that makes my butt dyno happier. Not trying to impress and not trying to spend all the kid's inheritance. Just asking if like-situated people had experience with these heads.

Ive had 3 set of flo tek heads. great for the price. flo tek heads, b303, tf intake, lt headers 5 speed 310rwhp after tune.

I haven't tried the thumper one yet
for the price you really cant beat them. The Thumpers supposedly flow similar to the TF 170 11r heads. Thats not bad assuming you can trust flow numbers 🤣 🤣. I will probably do their early 180 with the small valves since I have stock pistons.

I mean the current 180s. Not the new thumpers. The old ones i would pass on. They are so cheap new it's not worth risking it. Everything I've read says they are a good budget head. I dint need a ton of power in my truck. I might not even do them if it makes 400 with the gt40s and the novi.

machined, cleaned and assembled by tax paying Americans. what's your point?

All budget head castings are off shore but are machined, cleaned, and assembled by middle class , over taxed, long work hours American citizens.

What's your point? Do you have a company that casts cylinder heads that are 100% USA? What would you charge for these heads? Are you hiring? I have many machinist friends that are looking for work.

I'm not hating...... I bought bare... outfitted with quality parts... worked ok on my bbc bracket car
.. end of the day here is what i learned.. when outfitting with quality parts everything together cost as much as an afr or trickflow head..... they preformed ok compared to what my expectations were. They "looked" up to par. There were a few things that would have thrown most ppl off that i corrected... bolt holes are not always where they suppose to be... one small bolt hole threads pulled out and the metal was porus in that one area. Seats were all over the place... chamber cc was nowhere near advertised.

its only money... get the good stuff...

anyone need me to retell the story of how i spent a week with warren buffett? we had a lot of very interesting conversations over stuff similar to this.. of course most conversations not directly related to the hot rod world... but a lot were related directly to cost vs reward or risk..

Funny thread, I thought this might be about Thumper doing a set of Flotek heads, he's been gone for a long while.

I bought a set many years ago from Thumper, which he did go through, after a buyer didn't pay for them. I also have changed directions(work truck to be retired and sold soon). So I have a "new" set I'd like to sell, Thumper installed a spring kit(beehive of course) suggested by Ed for a custom cam. These were cleaned up fully, I would not call them ported, he said they were still about 180cc, and 58cc chambers.

There's a lot of hypocrisy that goes with those preaching "Buy American" while typing on their imported phone and computer technology. The fact remains that the orient have some superior casting facilities that are sought out by American companies needing superior products. I love my country but I'm the first to admit that many of my belongings originate from other countries.

I remember businesses moving to Puerto Rico in the 70's to save a buck. It's sad but outsourcing foreign built products and labor is nothing new. I also remember what the government did to the American farmers back then.

Does anyone know where I can buy an American Mustang without parts sourced from other countries?

Back to heads... Don't rule out the Promaxx offerings. They feature quality parts and are built and machined in the US. ;)

Well, the phone is a poor example. The container is the root of all problems, or all solutions depending on which side you prescribe to. Malcolm McLean in 1956 brought offshore to the masses. Before, this time frame, it was not feasible. No one bats an eye at slave labor, literally. Which just reinforces that people operate in their own self interests, whether they choose to acknowledge it or not. Human hardships be damned.

I do what I can for America as a consumer; I avoid certain companies or brands based on the most blatant disregard for good values. I know that's vague, but as said before, we don't know what's really going on behind the scenes. So what's left is to carefully pick and choose, and unfortunately that should come down to the worst companies, to black list them.

Right now Bank of America is on my list for example, they many years ago advertised for illegals to come and create accounts with them. They didn't require identification, and then they happily helped transfer money from account to account, anywhere outside the US. They facilitated the illegal processes.

AARP supported Obama Care(socialism), and since then, they will have no business from me. You have to draw your own lines, what is too bad to allow. Disney supported wokeism, they are now on my list, I have plans to never pay extra for their services. The world is on fire, we should all do some part to reduce the fires, and not make them worse.

They are new Flotek 180's from about 2019 or before. I forgot the date I bought them from Thumper, that was in the SBFtech forum. He had already gone through them, and I wanted them for a 306 planned, and asked him to replace the springs again. Way back everyone knew Thumper from working on tons of Ford E7 and GT40 heads. I trusted him to discover any problems with the heads and fix them. He said they needed some minor casting work around the valve bowls near the seats etc, but nothing serious. The ports are fully cleaned up, they look ported but as I suggested, I think he just barely touched them.

If you're selling, let me know. I can't find how to PM someone, if you know how.......PM me.

Sure, will do. You have to have a number of posts before you can fully access everything, and the PM's.

I'd be interested in the Flotek heads, what is your asking price?
