I have a 1967 mustang, with a 302 and holley 600 carb. When the engine warms up, or it has been sitting in line at the bank
, It starts idling very high, and on shutoff will sometimes diesel. From what I know, a few things can cause this. It does not have any special solenoid, and has manual choke. I don't have a temp gauge hooked up right now
, but I have the thought it may be running hot. I am running quite a bit of timing on it, because it ran fine before I put the new carb on it. I'm running 89 octane, with 18* initial timing, 30* on the advance. Never had a problem before, but should I tone down the timing? Or maybe use 93? Could it be a cooling issue? Could it be that the throttle stop isn't adjusted properly? Could it be too lean? ANY help is very appreciated here, I just want to know the best place to start fixing this annoying problem!! Thanks!
