Ebay 5 lug conversions

I'm just wondering why these conversions are different than the ones from the junkyard. They use different rear axles-like the junkyard, rear brake drums-like the junkyard, but they offer new front rotors that will replace the stock 4 lug front rotors. How can you go about doing this on your own, like going down to autozone and getting these 5 lug rotors yourself? It seems a lot easier than getting the entire spindle assembly. Any info is appreciated.

I looked this setup up earlier last month. It looks like a 5 lug kit from a Ranger. My buddy works for a Ford dealer, and he priced all the parts including NEW axles and I could save around $150 that way. You could even do it cheaper by finding a junkyard Ranger and buy those parts...

First off, read and read and read Matt's site above and most of your questions would be answered. I read it probably 20 times before I did my swap. With the quick 5 lug kits, you can run the 94-95 17" wheels, the 94-97 Cobra wheels, and all of the 15" and 16" wheels and many of the aftermarket wheels. That is why you replace the spindle (the part the brake rotor and brake caliper and strut mount to) with the 94+ SN95 one and the corresponding rotors and calipers. Then you can fit any 94-04 Ford Mustang wheel with no fitment problems.

You "can" use spacers on some, but it is not really as safe unless you buy the really good ones and why not just do it correctly? If you shop around you can get the complete front parts from like $125 on up. www.car-part.com

Good luck on it.

Front rotors are Mark 7 if you have 11" brakes and 4-banger Ranger if you have 10" brakes.

Axles are one side from a 4-banger ranger with the 7.5" rear

Drums are 9" ranger drums.

Complete Brake Service sell a 10" 5-lug rotor that is a direct replacement for the Fox 4 lug. Uses stock calipers 130.00 a pair . The Rangers came with three drum sizes, 9",10" x 1.75" and 10" x 2.5 " Brake Co # 1 -800-581-2339
Hope this info helps.

So if i were to put the 5 lug 95 cobra wheels on my 93 gt then would i have to replace the spindle or will just buying new 5 lug rotors work fine?

uh, not necessarily ..... the 94-97 Cobra wheels fit the 5 lug rotors. Last time I checked, the 95 was in the 94-97 range. :D
