My ‘90 is Wild Strawberry and came with the Scarlet interior. It originally had low back front seats, but those have been swapped out for ‘85/86 GT seats with ‘83 netted halos. When redoing the interior I threw a lot of black in to tone down the red. The black carpet helped the most.

Red gets looked down upon, but it has grown on me. I like a black interior in the aero cars, but it isn’t as special in my eyes anymore. They all look the same. I spent 11 years with a black interior in an ‘83 GT, so I’ve been there done that. The cars with a different color (like blue....) interior now catch my attention.

throw some black seats in there and it will look absolutely awesome. red and blue both suffer from just a massive overload of one color and adding black to it makes it look day and night.

can't believe the factory didn't think of that instead of just taking a massive red and blue diarrhea dump to those interiors. and i somewhat regret converting my car to all black, but that was before i saw a car with the perfect red/black mixture.

 

It was 1992 and 1993 which featured the full red interior, including the steering wheel.

 

92-93 also featured an ALL-BLUE interior as well, where everything was blue. I think it was limited to the 4 cyl only though.

Anyway, my car originally had the scarlet red interior. I wasn't a fan at all at the time. 90-93 Mustangs had the black interior, and back in the early 2000's I came across a parts car with a mint black interior in if for $250 (would be unheard of today) and that was the end of red interior for me. However, now 20 years later, I ironically have a thing for a clean red tweed interior. I really like the 87-89 GT seats mostly, so seeing a nice, clean stock tweed interior these days catches my eye.

I know adding bits of black here and there is the latest trend, but I actually like it all red. There are even some late model 2005+ red seats that look good swapped in. I've seen the fronts added, and the rear seat recovered to match and it looked very nice.

Black interior photographs well, but I could list a few practical reasons why i'm not a fan. I won't be trading it out however.

my '90 5.0 had a blue interior although it wasn't as bright/loud blue that the 4 banger had

 

I like the red interior but with a different outside color. This is a 89 with the outside painted a medium grey from a newer ford. The exterior was red from factory but I don't have any pics.

 

I had to dig waaaaaaay back into my archives to find some pics of my hybrid red/black swap. This wasn't intentional, but just my hesitation (at the time) of pulling a dash.

Forgive the poor picture quality, but this was 1999 or so. I was 18 at the time, so 5" monster tach on an AOD was a requirement

Fortunately my interior looks nothing like this now. I did have to add some color though to break up the all-black theme I had going on

 

Here's a photo of a red interior in a red exterior GT. Hard to actually see the red exterior though. I think the 1989 tweed seats do make the look though.
