differences in these fox body side mirrors

not sure about this so I'll ask, are the side mirrors in the right stang aftermarket? or special option? lately i've run into A LOT of stangs with these. I was thinking that whether manual or power, the side mirrors looked like the ones on the left.

convertables don't have window frame's to mount mirrors on so they mount to the door skin.

i dont think thats correct cause my vert has it on the frame like on the pic on the left

87 and early 88 model convertibles had the hardtop mirrors.

im pretty sure these were on verts starting in '88.im not sure what the reason was but i know visibility is much better with them

memphis306 is right, i started looking around for pics of 88s and looks like it started in 88. So 87 was the only year like that then?

87fiveoh254 is correct. Convertile bodies got the new mirrors AFTER the '88 model year started. Early '88 (first 2 or 3 months) convertible bodies had the old mirrors.
