Cometic Head Gaskets

I just talked to my machineist. I was planning on running Fel-pro loc wire gaskets. When I asked about cutting receiver grooves in my heads he recommended a different solution. Instead of a loc wire type gasket he offered a 3 layer gasket made by Cometic. I have used their gaskets on my ATVs before. I did not know they had automtive gaskets. Anybody using them? Any good?

I have a street car that will see the track about twice a month. I hope to see about 15-16 psi of boost. It will have a conservative tune. I just don't want any major problems.

My machineist really like the Cometic Head Gasket. He has never had any problem with them. I am running copper on my engine but I would have run Cometic if I had not already had the grooves cut in the block and cylinder heads. He used them on a friends car and they sealed great. He has not had any problems with them. I know they are high but I think they are worth the extra money.

93MUSTANG- How much boost is you friend running?

I know my machineist has used them on a lot of Nitrous motors in the past year. He didn't say anything about blower cars though. I think I am going to be the first for him. I talked to a guy last night and he says a few Renegade cars use them.

Anybody else with real word experience?

My friends car is an all motor car. No nitrous or boost. The motor has about 16.1 compression. I have also heard that several Renegade guys are using this gasket. My machineist said they would hold 20+lb of boost. I was going to run them on my motor an I have a Procharger F1R pushing 25+lb of boost but everything was already setup for the cooper gaskets.
