We will see. Stock aftermarket heads, pump gas, street/strip, stock block, an old 950 carburetor and a goofball like me screwing around with it. It’ll be great if it can even make noise with me running around.
Oil, a couple oil filters, some pump premium fuel, and a couple days away from seeing what it’ll do. Daughter wants to ditch school and come with me Monday. I don’t have a problem with that.
...ditch school, watch her use the timing light & adjust floats - she will never forget the 'Dad' time - that time spent with your kids is priceless...
I am not usually a fan of blow off anything days, but I would not consider what she would be doing as such, rather this will be exchanging one type of learning day for another.
Drag queen day? Have to get the car back together and my daughter has to age a couple years before we can have her drag Queen debut at Famoso. Hahaha! That’s why I have the kids in private school if you meant the moronic Ca public school system and politics.
Yeah, it’s finally done. Don’t worry. I have until Monday to have something go horribly wrong or just to simply come up with an excuse why my plans fell apart. In fact, I should start working on all my excuses right now!
I will have an assortment of Phillips head screwdrivers as well as a Phillips head bit for the impact driver. Not worried about the flat head screws. Those aren’t structural.👍
My daughters school offered auto shop for the first time this year. It is taught by a friend of mine and my daughter is really enjoying it. This is causing her to want to learn and be a part of the process. Her excitement is definitely reigniting a fire in me. She is almost always a straight A student. One day away should not be a problem.
All loaded up and ready to go early tomorrow morning. After I’m done I should have results I will share when I get around to it in the next five or six months.
They are a pre-cut kit from MSD for a Fox mustang. I had previously done a set you cut to length which turned out really nice. I have never been happy with the pre-cut kit.
There are a few things on it now that will change as it goes in the car. The valve cover breathers are on there just for the dyno. Not sure if I will go with my header evac kit, Aerospace vacuum pump, a new vacuum pump or what yet. My concern leading up to today has been to get it on the dyno to make sure there are no issues and get a baseline tune.
It was making 555 hp by 7,100 RPM. On one pull it made peak torque at 5,600 rpm. This pull peak was at 7,100. This was with 26 degrees of timing. It didn’t like 28. Not just the numbers but how it sounded. Big Dogs probably wouldn’t believe that. Bob Verbancic wasn’t surprised at all.
The only thing that has me scratching my head is how the engine seems to go flat after 7100 RPM. Toby reminded me that a while back he told me he did not fully torque down the rockers. I forgot to finish torquing them down.
We checked lash hot early on and everything was good. The engine sounded great with no evidence of a very loose rocker. But I will be pulling it down to check them once I get it back on the engine stand.
Individual cylinder EGT’s were very close. Lows in the 1190’s and highs just an hair over 1300. Plenum looked bone dry and like it was never ran after all was said and done and the carb came off.
Oil pressure was solid slowly peaking at 63 when pulls were cut off at 7,500.
