I just pulled my Performer heads to be replaced with AFR 185's on my mystrey motor. I found out it is a hydraulic rollor with link bar lifters,:) It has SVO B351 rollor rockers, :) and cast pistons:crying: guess I will not be using a 200 shot this summer.

Anyways the pistons have an oval dish with small valve releifs on them. They are stamped as follows;

463P .030
03-167-06-A

Can anyone ID these pistons?
Thanks for the help guys.

Well I did some searching on summit's site, and they turned out to be cheap Federal Mogal pistons part# STL-463P30. Summit and Federal Mogul do not list much about them. No weight or piston to cylinder volume, just the compression distance 1.752".

I dont get it the former owner spent good money on H/C/I, machine work and assembly on the motor, nice fuel and ignition system, rims, paint, hood, and suspention, then he cheaps out and gets $10 pistons.:curses:

Does anyone know any more specs on these pistons? Thanks.

There is not much for valve releifs on these pistons but the are dished quite a bit. Will I have piston to valve clearance problems running a big cam like a comp cams XE282HR 12 and 2.02 intake valves?

now you have 8 ash trays...
... the cheapo cast pistons will not take any level of "shot" or extra cylinder pressure without failure..

they are not even as good as some STOCK pistons.....

some owners do not know...because,
the shop that built the engine did not say / tell them that the pistons are weak...

compression and power adder a side, what kind of ball park power would I gain from a nice set of light weight foreged pistons?

And will I be able to run an after market cam with these "ash trays"?

you won't gain any horsepower by switiching to forged pistons with the same compression. I'm sure you can run a aftermarket cam, how big one I don't know.

The only benefit to forged pistons is the tend not to crack and/or disengrate when the hp levels go up.

I hope they will hold 375rwhp spinning a little over 6000rpm, for a year or two.

I would not use any kind of power added with cheap cast pistons but is durability a concern in a N/A form never spinning past 6500?

So what would compression be with a stock type piston and a 61cc head on a 351? I beleive a stock 351 has 8.5-1 cr.
