OP,
Are these heads going on the 331 in your tag or a different setup? I know most people don't have much respect for them, but you could probably find a good set of used iron heads with everything for $600 to $800. I got a set of dart jrs for less that it was going to cost me to have my stock heads rebuilt.

ok bottom line lets say 1200 for a set of RHS heads or 1600 for AFR cause u know every one needs the spring upgrade on the AFR's....so theres 350-400 dollars difference.... so there lies the most IMPORTANT question. is the the power diff that MUCH between RHS vs AFR to be worth 350 bucks that could go for a nice intake lets says........ANSWER THAT ONE with out saying "oh theres to many variables blah blah" no theres not just answer it

Actually, you can get the AFR's from Keith Craft with upgraded valve springs for the same price as everyone else sales AFR's, $1349. That what I did with my AFR 165's and they are great.

Twisted Wedge or AFR 185 Heads

For a great out of the box head in your budget, nothing can touch the stock TFS Twisted Wedge heads. They have their limits "as is" but they are proven US manufactured heads. You will have to consider changing the valve springs to match your current camshaft profile but even that is not too much money if you do it yourself.

If you can save up a few more bucks, get the AFR 185 heads. Show me any other head that has all these features for under $1400..."shipped"....

AFR 185 Standard Heads
Stud mounted with or without emissions
100% CNC Combustion Chambers
100% CNC Exhaust & Intake Ports
3-angle Radiused Valve Job
2.020” Stainless 8mm Intake Valves
1.600” Stainless 8mm Exhaust Valves
1.290” Dual Hydraulic Valve Springs
130 lbs. on seat, .600” maximum lift
7º Chromemoly Retainers
7º Hardened Valve Locks
Viton Valve Stem Seals
AFR Hardened Spring Locators

No special headers
No inferior Chinese castings
Modern LSX style valvetrain
Lightweight 8mm stem valves
No need to do anything but make power with them.

Still the best bang for the buck in cylinder heads

ty for chiming in ed....so you know were i can find afr's w/600 lift springs for 1399 shipped;) good to know... i just worry about bolting on heads out of the box for reasons like possible valve guide issues etc... does afr really lower these issues with there quality over others??? a local guy here can make me a set of RHS heads for my setup for around 1250 and then heads are gone over...any thought 200cc 58cc 2.02 versions...so i guess theres 2 questions there lol thanks

Just as a point that Ed noted...The upgraded springs are a thing of the past in most applications. Our new STANDARD spring is a better piece then our old upgrade version.
135 on the seat, 360/inch rate and rated to .600"....all of this in 1.290" diameter to really cut down on the weight and inertia.

Shouldn't the post read best heads for $900. You got fastenrs, gaskets, tap, thread insert, band-aids, oil pan gasket (do to dropping somthing in the engine), new spark plug wires, spark plugs, header gaskets, six pack of your favorite import beer, $50 dinner you have to buy your wife or girlfriend to explain the reasoning of spending this money on the car that sits in the garage, instead of new carpet, fix the toilet, landscaping etc.

Used AFR's, Trickflow are nice.
