i just bought a competition eagle stroker kit, forged crank, h beam rods and srp flattop pistons. i want a street and strip car, which heads are best for this combo, i want as much power as possible, and i dont want the compression to be too high, i want to put 93 octane pump gas in it...

Both of the above recommendations are good for this set up, but do match the intake and exhaust tracts. If you get either of these heads, or a set of canfields, be sure to keep the restrictions out of the set up. (i.e. longtubes to 3" exhaust, with a decent single plane intake).

you can live with 11:1 compression with pump gas on a set up like this, so dont worry about a small chambered head. At this displacement you are probably going to stay N/a or Nitrous?

By the way, I think all three of these heads are just a bit too large for a 347, but it is better to have flow potential and control it with a cam than to use small heads and try to crutch them with cam durations as this will squeeze your usable rpm range to compensate for low flow numbers.

Do them now, or wish you did them later. AFR 225's. You'll discover the only real crutch to engine power is the amount of air it can flow. If you want to be at a specific level of HP, then you go with a good head, middle to top of the flow charts.

If you make a statement like I want as much power as possible (my kinda guy), then go with the biggest well engineered head you can buy. Take a look at Anderson Ford motorsport cam. I have used his cams, they kick ass. Don't go with a killer head, then throw a comp cam in it.

Now, on a 347 with 11 to 1, the car is gonna want to Rev, so a better block will be in order. Such is the price you pay for as much power as possible with no listed limitations.

AFR 225, super vic intake or tfs box top if EFI, 750 carb, and a N-113 cam. Would make over 500 rwhp easily, and want to rev to 8000. In the right chasis, run high 9. Depends how fast you really wanna be.

BigMike..i like your setup, do you drive your car on the street a lot and what octane do you run, and do you have any problems, also the victor jr intake, the power band is 3500-8000, is that to much for the street or what, and what do you shift at, also do you have the stock block? what do you launch at?

A guy I know ran a 11.57@119 with a home built 306. Stock block, custom grind cam, Victor Jr., TFS home ported, 4.30 gears, straight headers, in a 3000 lb 87 GT. I was impressed to say the least. He had alot of $$ in it but for a mostly do it yourself motor thats damn impressive. Not sure what rods/pisons he had. I think it was around 10.5-11:1 though.

I use a stock block, crank and rods in my 306. I spin it to 7000. It may be a time bomb but mine shure has a long fuse on it. 200 runs on the short block and counting.

I know a guy that had almost the exact same combo as you in 87 GT. He ran a 11.57@119 but then had the car stolen. Probably could have gotten it faster for sure...
