BEST CAMS FOR 4.6?

Yes i want to put cams in my 96 GT tang but i want hydrolic cams no solid lift.I'm knew on the computer deal i usually mess with 60 stuff 69 z28 stuff like that.Iwant good fast sound and pretty good low in pull out of it and i got 3.55 gear which i'm changing monday to a 3.73.ALSO it still has cut of box on it someone sais go msd and that would by pass all that so it would turn up!So all advice would be appreciated i know alot of you in here have tried many different cams.THX MIKE

Not sure what you are saying but, here are some choices to look at.
VT Engines
Comp Cams
Crower
Crane
Houston Performance
Mod Max

These are a few.

You may want to re-write your post so others can help you:)

get a 5.0 --umm really you can't go that big becuase of the heads, if you want some really good cams for a 2v you really need to tear apart the block and notch the pistons and get it clayed up so you have everything working right. You need some great springs to, they will handle the lift better so you don't hear a very big boom!

my VT stage 2 n/a cams are great... it pulls fine in low end... and a raped ape mid +

i tried jegs they dont sale no dual cams for 4.6 at all.Also what kind of msd do i need to worh with this 4.6,she couldn't tell me that neither,i want it so i can by pass the stutter box it cuts off at 6100,and i want that to stop so i need the right one maybe a part # or somewhere i could look!

Why do you want to rev higher than 6100 on a stock engine? It's there for a reason, to keep you from blowing it up. There are plenty of cam options available. Check out

www.vtengines.com They sell their own cams, as well as both Comp and Crower.

The 4.6 only has "roller lifters" (technically they are followers since they ride right on the cam), no flat tappets.

Having 96 heads he can't use any VT cams. They all have too much lift unless he mods the heads.

Your options are comp 262h, 268h, crower 62811-2, crane 379511, or something custom.

Based on your original post, I think you're best bet to be educated on 96-98 4.6 SOHC would be to contact a local speed shop who is familiar with Ford modular 4.6 and knows how to tune them and let them walk you thru your options. There are some valid and good points here, I just think you would be better off having a hands on approach with a shop since your main experience is with 60's models (if it was a '95 Mustang GT, sure, the old school rools apply, '96-up is another ball game). I had an old school (pushrod) shop work on my 4.6 SOHC (NOT KAUFFNMAN'S) the first go around and they unknowingly accepted the job without any techs who could properly install and tune the parts, it ended up costing me thousands to repair. Just from experience. Good luck.

iDIOT I SAID IT WASNT COMPLETELY STOCK I GOT CARS OUT HERE I CAN TURN 11,000 & THEY DONT BLOW I GOT 69 RS CAMARA WITH A 4 SPEED 850 CENTER SQUIRTER AND 400 SMAL BLOCK WITH 350 CRACK WHICH IS A 377 WILL TURN 10,000 TO 11000 NO PROBLEM AND GET IT DONE NO JUICE NEITHER DONT TELL ME U CAN TURN THEM IF I CANT TWIST IT I DONT WONT IT I COLLECT THEM AND I HAVE FUN WITH THEM WHAT U WANT!

By the way i was going with 3.73 gear i;ve heard so much about the 410 but i didnt like the 411 in my supersport & my friend has brand new 3.73 that he said he would trade for my 355 plus $40 so i think thats good deal and he sets them up so i can get it all done for under 100 bux

First of all, You should not yell at the people who are trying to help you. Also, I really dont have much room to talk but, If you use proper english in your posts you would get better help. Calling peaple idiots and saying you want a 4.6 to turn 11k.Isnt gonna help you get any answers.

A 377 turning 11,000 rpms .Yea ok.Plus the only reason it has to turn that high is to make power.Ill take a high power low rpm car ANYDAY.

Hell even the factory stock boys are only turnin 8k on 4v's.

My old 292S cams are NOT regrinds. Mine are billet cams... sheesh some folks are misinformed, eh? :evil:
