just curious! I figure it is a better idea to change them any once the heads have been off.

Yes, the stock head bolts are reusable. You may want to re-torque them after a heat cycle, however. Other than that, you're good to go.

they are! but they're kinda like a virgin.. best the first time! getting looser and looser every other time.

Your comparison of the stock headbolts to an unpopped cherry, never been f*cked, is a good one! however, you will be fine re-using your stock headbolts as long as you follow the proper installation procedure.

Why not spend the $35 on a set of ARP's?

if I was going thu that much trouble to change head gaskets I'd throw a set of ARP studs in there....just did that with mine last week....

i WOULDNT reuse them, its like $35-$40 for a set of ARP head bolts and the stock bolts are torque to yield bolts anyways and their best reading comes from the first torque;)

No, they're NOT all re-usable, sometime in the early 90's ford switched to using Torque-To-Yield (TTY) bolts that by definition are used up as soon as they're used once. A set of head bolts is cheaper than the agony of doing the whole job over again because you ****ed it up with old bolts.

I was just about to ask this very question. Should Ibe able to get the bolts from a store local, or will I have to order them from Summit?
