Your comparison of the stock headbolts to an unpopped cherry, never been f*cked, is a good one! however, you will be fine re-using your stock headbolts as long as you follow the proper installation procedure.
i WOULDNT reuse them, its like $35-$40 for a set of ARP head bolts and the stock bolts are torque to yield bolts anyways and their best reading comes from the first torque
No, they're NOT all re-usable, sometime in the early 90's ford switched to using Torque-To-Yield (TTY) bolts that by definition are used up as soon as they're used once. A set of head bolts is cheaper than the agony of doing the whole job over again because you ****ed it up with old bolts.
Just anty up the $70 or so and buy ARP studs. YOu can re-use them several times and they are allot better than bolts.
