I saw an article that an old trick for skinnies was to use the aluminum mini spare rims with 165R15 tires. Anyone do this? Was it worth it, ET wise?
Supposedly there were a couple years when fox mustangs had 15" 4-lug aluminum spares (I think '89-'90 GT's and possibly others). Although other than the weight diff, why couldn't you use the steel spare with 165R15 tires?stangmaster said:your talking about aluminum 17'' cobra spares? what about using the standard steel spares ? or is that a 14'' rim? i have to spares so i wondered about puting on the VW tires.
Sometimes. I've seen one car go thru while the very next car was shot down. The second guy never took the speed warning sticker off the wheel. FWIW, the speed warning is for the tire, not the wheel.TRUBBLE said:Do they pass tech?![]()
No one advocates running the factory spare tire, but you can certainly use the wheels if you mount a proper 165/15 tire (VW tire).JD_87 said:LMFAO!!!
I had one of those F-ing thigns and I can tell you right now I woulnd't run it. Those things are SCAREY small. (not to mention UGLY). The tire on there was half the size of my 165's...
I think it looks tough ... back in the 80s lots of guys did it.JD_87 said:HAHHHAH... Imagine runnin that tooth pick spare tire down the track? HAHAHAHAH!!!
