If Al aka BOSS 330 reads this please help. I have a 2002 Mustang with a 5.4L Navigator crate motor I got from Ford. It has the forged crank and the stock 9.50:1 compression ratio pistons and rods. I am wondering what kind of horsepower numbers the bottom end can handle? Also how many PSI can it withstand? I am planning on running about 14-16 PSI from a 03 Cobra eaton superchager system that has been modified to fit the 5.4L. The engine has ported and polished Navi heads with stage 2 Cobra cams and ARP head studs. Am I safe to run this setup or should I lower the PSI from the supercharger untill I build the bottom end up with forged rods and pistons? I know when I decide to upgrade to the 3.4L Whipple the bottom end must be built to withstand the 25-30 PSI I will throw at it.

The rods are the weak link in the Navi engine, they will take roughly 400 RWHP. For the boost and RPM that this motor will turn in a mustang (the rev limit in the navigator is set @ 5500) you will not make it past 400 HP for long.

We suggest a set of Manley H beam rods and pistons to reach you PSI/HP goal otherwise dont waste your time installing it.

Let us know how we can help.
