Hello, I recently purchased a 4r70w transmission to install in my 93 fox body. It has this blue tag on it with a tsb 99-14 saying i need to call the number thats on the sticker. I call and get no answer. Does anyone know anything about this. I want to go through the transmission and rebuild it but I read the to and it says I need to call before I rip into it. Do u think its ok to rebuild if so what year is it so I buy the right rebuild kit.

Thanks in advance.

Factory TSB sticker, void after 2000. They slapped these stickers on in case the transmission had an issue (a lot did thus the tsb). Rebuild to your heart’s delight, you own it.

4R70W’s built before 1998 have a white connector on the right side of the pan, anything after that will have a black connector. The internal hard parts are pretty much the same, same clutches and drums. The valve bodies are slightly different, you want the black connector version. Depends on what you are going to use to control it.

The module that’s part of the shift linkage Is the range sensor, this sensor sends signals for current gear, backup lamps and neutral safety switch. There is a connector on the opposite side of the transmission that needs to be verified. Earlier models had a white connector on the trans while newer models had a black connecto. This is the interface for line pressure, shift solenoids etc.
The following link is from Dan’s (Silverfox transmission) that shows the pinouts of the white and black connectors:
