is it possible that the A9L computer can adapt to 42lb injectors and be driveable and not have any starting issues at all? is there any drawback's at all to this? another board member on here says he's done it with no problem! I was just making sure that it is especially since there was no chips, programmers,PMS,FAST,ACCEL GEN,FRPP Extender,or any type of add on helping this?

Well, yes, I will handle it with no problem. As long as your air meter is calibrated for it. That's about as big as you would want to go with a stock computer. I had the 42lbers., with a stock A9L and no chip on my car, and honestly, it cold started great(I was using a 90mm Lightning air meter), but driveability sucked! It was way too much injector and too big of an air meter. My car is no sloutch either, I ran a best of 11.36 at 121 with a N/A 351. So, it's not like I had that setup on a stock headed 302. Why are you gonna run such a big injector in the first place? What kind of setup do you have? Are you running a power adder?

If you are using it with a blower and an FMU get yourself a bleeder valve as you will be erradic with rich conditions, I had it on my car with 13lbs and a built motor making 500 rwhp and it was rich as hell down low and lean up top, I suggest getting a chip if no FMU.

I'm running a custom dry nitrous system and want to see how far I can go on stock electronics?

I just picked up some lighting 42's, and I'm waiting on a Pro-M 80mm to get here. I told them to calibrate the meter for n/a. This whole time I have been thinking the 42's are too big and I'm going to ruin my drivability and have no choice, but to pick up a tweecer. At the same time, I keep reading about the people with problems, and then the others without problems. I am also using the A9L computer, so I guess I'm hoping everything works out OK. Other then the car wanting to go lean from 5300rpms and higher, the drivability of it, is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!! In the back of my mind I keep thinking that I should sell the 42's and look for a set of 36's and keep the fmu. I didn't have to much luck on my searches, so I would like to know what everyone else's opinion is. Thanks

are you runnin' a blower? if so why would you have the meter caibrated for N/A? if your not runnin' a blower then why do you have a FMU? and last but not least are you a member of DFWSTANGS???

Yes, I am running a blower. I had the meter calibrated for N/A, because so many people felt like it made their cars too rich. This is coming from the people around Speedworks, RPM, and Dallas Mustang. I am a member of Dfwstangs.

I just saw this thread. My cars starts fine, idles fine but when i went to drive it it bucked pretty hard under 2,000rpms at 41psi, backed it down to 38 and the bucking wasnt near as bad and wot was much better. Still not as strong n/a wot but i dont think my computer is any good, ive changed everything but it to cure my hot restart problem.
Im gonna try a new computer. If i cruise above 2000rpms now it is just fine. havent sprayed w/ the 42's yet though.

this is my problem as well. only mine is cal'd for SC and im STILL too lean, so lean as a matter of fact that ill be doing the good ol head gasket job this weekend! woohooo! ive got no chip or anything and just 42's, 80mm pro-m making 13psi boost. i noticed approx. 5500 or so i go REALLY lean really quick before that i stay 11.5-12.0 until that point. i posted my experience in the SC forum recently, it goes something like-"im leaning out up top??" go take a look. some one said alot of guys are leaner out with 42 no fmu and no chip/tuning. so im thinking dam why didnt someone tell me this when i asked about 42's/80mm/fmu combo i wouldnt have even bothered. my 24's/stock/maf/fmu was working just fine grrrrrrrrrrr.
on the other hand i have no driveability issues what so ever (yet at least) no hard hot starts. the worst i noticed was when i would hot start it would show rich on my wideband for the first couple seconds after starting and a slightly ruff idle. but like i said only lasted a few seconds. i think one factor to good driveability is having your fuel pressure set at stock-38psi vac off. otherwise your throwing the cal. of the meter off from the actual injector flow rate.
anyways...i love changing HG's

Some get lucky and have next to no issues. The vast majority though do have hot start problems with 42's. Regardless of the MAF calibration the EEC's cranking fuel tables can only cut back the pulse width so far and it can't cut it back enough for 42's. It'll start fine cold, but expect to have to floor it when it's hot to get the car to start. Only remedy for this is a chip or tuning device.

After replacing my computer and bumping fp to 40psi i have no driveability problems. To start the car i have to push the pedal but it was like this with stock injectors, push the pedal to the floor turn the key and it will fire like any other car.

cool!! cause this guy from another website wants to trade me his 42lber's for my 30lber's!!
