3G 130 amp on 86, wiring

I'm about to install a 130 amp 3G alt on my 86 mustang.

1. Can a standard 94+ 3G alt work like a one wire? Can I just hook up the power wire to my pos batt terminal and do the rev up to start the alt or is there some other electrical need in the rest of the wires on a 86?

2. What is a stator?

My 86 Mustang has lots of custom wiring, so there is no need to tell me to splice the "white" wire with the "black",, this will not help me.

I was hoping to do two things,, main power out wire from alt and thats it (as long as all 3G alts can be "turned on" by revving the engine),

OR

main power and one hot wire when ign is on, to turn on the alt. where would this + wire go on the 3G, and will this work with my 86 wiring (don't care about amp gage in dash).

Thanks

I have done this swap.
86's(like other 79-86 Mustangs) have an ammeter instead of a voltmeter (as the 87-93's had)
As such, you will be missing 2 wires on each of the existing plugs.
The voltage regulator will only have the yellow and green
and the large plug on the side will only have the 2 large gauge black with orange stripe wires.
It is the white wire that is missing.
What I ended up doing was going to the auto parts store and purchasing a new voltage regulator plug pig tail which has all 3 wires on it. Splice the yellow and green to the correct terminals. The white wire is the one that will have to be spliced to the spade connector that gets added on the 3G conversion. Becareful when doing this as the pig tail I got had the yellow and green wires reversed. Make sure you compare your original plug to the replacement and that the yellow and green are in the correct positions before you solder it.
As far as the other plug, I usually tape it off and tuck it out of the way. Run a new 4 gauge with some sort of circuit protection as the factory black with orange wires are not large enough.
