Total Seal gapless rings are apparently (I've been told by reputable sources) excellent rings.
When I was building my 331 stroker I seriously considered Total Seal rings. But after talking with their head tech guy (I think his name was Kevin, but not sure) he menitoned that the cyl walls had to be a bit rough.
The 400 grit stones the machine shop used for the .030 overbore were too smooth, according to Kevin, to work well with their gapless rings. He also highly recommended inserting some sort of restrictor into the vacuum tube that connects from where you pour the oil to the t-body. This sounded like more hassle than I was willing to mess with.
Instead of Total Seal rings, I'm running C&A zero gap rings. Before buying them I made sure they were OK with the 400 grit stones used to overbore the block.
After about 2000 miles, all is well. Engine runs strong and yielded awesome numbers in a recent compression test.
Hope this helps.
