Yes a 2+2 IS THE SAME THING as a fast back, just a different name. 2+2 meaning 2 people can sit in the front + 2 sitting in the back (ya right no room for anything back there but the point is 2 up front 2 in back)

 

Same as calling it a Sports Roof starting in 69.

 

I'm pretty sure that the 2+2 refers to the fold down rear seat option, not the body style. But since you could only get this option in the fast back it causes some confusion. If the rear seat is down the car will seat 2, if the seat is up then it will seat the +2.

 

If the rear seat is down the car will seat 2, if the seat is up then it will seat the +2.

If the the rear seat is down it will lay 2 :leghump:

 

but you could get it with the rear seat not movable and it had a flat cardboard top to it that held the speakers.
it made the trunk a little longer toward the front.

i think that they only used the 2+2 designation in the early years...

 

2 + 2 in 65/66, fastback in 67/68, sportsroof in 69/70.

If it had the fold down rear seat it was a 2+2 and had the fender emblems otherwise it was just a fastback.

two in the front,
...two in the back,
...and two more in the TRUNK,

when we went to the drive in MOVIES.........!!!!!!

According to the Mustang 1964 1/2 - 1973 restoration guide, all NON GT fastbacks were 2+2s and were badged as such. 2+2 only appeared for 65 & 66 cars.
