Hey guys....been wondering about this for a while. I want to keep my car running in the best state of tune i can. I have seen and read about this thing in my Haynes manual....but i never see anyone out here even mention the damn things. I know the computer uses it to adjust fuel/timing which would equal HORSEPOWER OUTPUT. What should i look for ? do they good bad? what are the symptoms?? Should i change it routinely along with the 02 sensors every few years?? By the way.....what kind of luck/power gain will changing the O2 out give me?? I have no trouble codes showing up on my car right now but i hear replacing them can make your car run better too.

Any advice or past experiences would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I live by the axiom " don't fix what ain't broke". If you have a digital volt meter you can check the 02's and ACT sensor. Look for under 1v on the ACT green wire w/ a warmed up eng. The 02's when measured should toggle between 0-1v w/ a warm eng. Yes there are 02 sensor replacement recomendations but mine operate properly @ 150k miles.

so...i guess if i dont have any "service engine soon" lights, dont worry about it?

Actually the ACT can be off enough to effect performance without throwing a code (or lighting the check engine light). Your Haynes should give you a table of values (ohms vs temps) that will allow you to check the ACT if you have an ohmmeter. How old is your car? Might as well check the ECT at the same time. Same table of values.
