its pretty cool that the guy doing all the bashing, "the showdown",appears to have some mustangs in his rotating avatar

my favorite from the first few pages:
"showdown what you think of GM and Chrysler merging together...

heard GM was broke... "

Yeah I noticed his avatar too. Typical local chevy guy that is responsible for more oildowns and blown up motors at the track than you can imagine and full of excuses too just like all the chevy guys around here.

The reason they don't like Fords is because of all the embarrassments the times they have lost to what should have been an inferior car.

Showdown got his ass handed to him by a full weight, less than 400 inch, sbf powered coupe on motor while he was sitting in an all fiberglass tubbed '68 Camaro with a 500+ inch big block. I remember that race VERY well.

Who did it?

i'm a ford to the bone guy and when at track somebody asks me why does that mustang has a chevy engine my answer is 'cause they didn't had enough money or knowledge to make a Ford fast,

this made me giggle, I know of some of these clowns too. You should see these guys that come by all my 'chevy buddies' as I call them, full of smiles and excuses EVERY SINGLE TIME. 'his car wasn't set up right' 'he couldn't drive' 'track wasn't hooking' etc etc

This is not the correct answer. Not enough knowledge, yes. Not enough money, no. It costs more to make sbc run than a sbf these days. This is not 1970 anymore remember. The chevy people at the track are the ones with money and more of it in their motor than the ford guys to go just as fast.

I may have to join that site. Seems where all the local guys hang out at
It is where the local guys are around here. It's fun to read if you can understand the posts. I swear I believe only two out of twenty of them paid any attention at all in english class. I know I don't have the very best grammar skills sometimes but even I have a hard time understanding their post sometimes and I've lived in south AL all my life.

I've been lurking ever since you posted that link and yes it's hilarious. How come that "SHOWDOWN" guy got offended when someone asked him to step up to 'Willy git-it'

I didn't know Mobile track was for sale either......

Because he is a diehard chevy fan that knows Willy's car is all Ford and will send him home with his tail tucked tightly under his ass.

Sounds all so familiar. Was talking with the Chevy guys the other day about a 4.6L 4v turbo car (hatchback w/ full interior) that drug a 79 fiberglass front end lexan windowed malibu w/ a 572" and 3 kits.

Before I even finished the story the excuses started pouring out

'his car wasn't set up for that race' 'he couldn't drive it' 'he must had low bottle pressure'

hilarious I tell ya.

that thread is just down right funny i race a friend of mine with a 98 trans am and every time i beat him its nothing but excuses he has an LS1 with cam exhaust nitrouse and all i have is an itty bitty 302 with H/C/I he beats me no biggie i just push the loud pedal farther next time LOL

It's getting even better. 17 pages now. There's chevy liar on there talking about a chevyII he has that runs 6.36 (1/8th) on the motor. This same guy had that car at pinks all out in montgomery and ran around 10.70 (1/4) spraying 175 I think. Sorry dude but that not going to get you a 6.36 in the 1/8th. He also says that car weighs 3000 lbs. I'm not buying that one either. Also funny how mr mopar keeps bragging about how his car runs 4s (1/8th) with a N/A mopar 440. It's a dragster that he says weighs about 1600 lbs and the motor has almost 1100hp. For that power and weight, it doesn't sound too fast to me either.

Yep, I personally witnessed this 9 second on motor car run a 10.70 with the bottle. I even watched them heat the bottle before the pass, and the motor sounded fine all the way down the track. So I know there wasn't a major tuning issue either.

A stock head, sbc powered car running low 6s in the 1/8 or high 9s in the 1/4 on motor or without methanol is something I have never seen in anything over 2400 pounds. Maybe an all fiberglass tube chassis or rail. Most of the quick sbc's with a stock head/block have rather large amounts of nitrous hooked to them.

There was a sbc powered car running mid 9s on motor, but it was a 415 cubic inch motor with SBII heads. I'm quite sure it also has the lightest internals that a person of normal income could afford. I know the guy that owns the car and he has been saving and working on it for years.
