Pretty simple question. How much HP am I giving up by not having a custom tune on my car. Im debating going with a standalone or chip burn.

I had it dynoed just to make sure that it wasnt going lean. My AF was actually pretty clean even at WOT. Kinda crispy at tip in, but decent at top end.

On a mustang dual roller it put down 362 HP at 5800 and 355 ftlbs at 5600.

The car is pretty drivable some quirks but nothing i cant deal with.

If im only going to get 20HP I wont bother but if you guys think that there is more hidden in the tune I'll probably spring for a new comp.

Combo is in sig....thanks guys.

I'd tune it.. I'm taking my 393 next month for a flip chip.. N/A and nitrous tunes.. Similar combo to yours (393, TEA TFS Heads, Comp Solid roller, TFS-R intake, 38# fuel system, 3" exhaust.. )

I figured that it would be smashing up against the rev limiter all the time. The heads and intake move lots of air, but, no mattter what i seem to do to the car it always ends up as what i call a torque monster. Tons of mid range but not the "shift it when the rods blow out" kind of top end pull. Peak hp at 5800? that cam is supposed to be 2500-7200rpm. Something must be holding it back. A fast street car to me dedstroys the tires when it gets on the cam(3000rpm) and wants to rev till it gets too scary. it does come on the cam at about 2600 and pull to the rev limiter, but, it is kinda flat feeling. It dosnt "ramp up". Maybe a tune will get it like that.

Your cam is pretty healthy. Id say a tune, different intake, and bigger induction components will help.

My experience is that it isn't necessarily the peak horsepower number that gets changed by a tune. A lot of time it is the ability of the tune to clean up the middle of the power band and gain horsepower in the midrange which equates to more average horsepower across the board.

Of course the other parts about cleaning up idle, cold starts, and basic driveability can also happen.

get the tune, i made 419 to the wheel running threw an automatic so i think you have a lot of hidden power. You cam is way meaner then mine also.

I never really thought the injectors would be too small. Maybe I'll go old school and hook a vac guage up to the manifold and look for any vac at the top of the rpm range. That should show any airflow restriction. If I remember right there shouldnt be any more than 1" of vac at the top end? Anymore than that and its pulling against the TB. To be honest I really havent been able to find a spot where I can fully run out all four gears. It feels strong but not pure evil like I was hoping. All input is welcome.

I would think that if you aren't maxing out the injectors, you are close. Sometimes it isn't peak numbers, but area under the curves.
Take it to the track.
