My buddy has a 94 or 5 V6 w/ a 5-speed and has been getting vibrations from his transmission. He looked under it & said there's what appears to be a balancer around the ujoint up front. It's a steel ring with a rubber insert. Is this a balancer from the driveshaft that's made it's way forward or is it supposed to be around the ujoint? Here's a pic he took w/ his camera phone. Thanks guys!

the v6 could be his picture is hard to tell

you should be ok for awhile if you take it off and clean the rubber off the yoke, My FRPP alum didnt have one and they are more suseptable(sp) to vibration and harmonic problems the balancer actually is there for an nvh fix because of the noisy drivetrain of the mustangs

The V6's do have the balacer weight on them. Why I don't know. I got 3 drive shafts and they all have it, But my Gt auto and 5spd shafts done. So don't panic. Now mine came off once and I couldn't tell a difference.
