I'm not interested in modifying a distributor to use so the 351w is out. now if I ever decide to play with an FE series engine I may use a 351w distributor since I know I can use a windsor dizzy in an FE engine (at least for duraspark you can).
HOW? HOW? HOW???????

I'm wanting to add injection to my 37 ford with a 351C 4v and AOD. I was thinking i could add injector bungs to a aftermarket intake and build my own "power elbow" that would mount to the Carb flange and have a mounting place for a TB then stick the MAF in front of that. I have a head and cam LT1 camaro so i'm familiar with the injection systems. I would then use a 460 distributor and get a wiring harness out of a junk MAF stang. The only questions i really have is where can i get fuel rails? I talked to a guy a while ago that said you can order the pieces and build your own real easy. Any info on that? Also I assume the MAP goes into the intake so i would have to try to find a way to install that on a stock intake. Any suggestions? Then finally what would it take to actually power the stang ecm wiring harness. Just hook a power wire to the ecm that gets hot when the ignition is on? I have access to a huge junkyard where i can get any thing for free so i think i could do this kind of cheap to get it running. After it was running i would upgrade injectors to feed my 224/232 HR cam, RR, Mid length header 351C 4v.

anyway, my little brother surprised us all and decided to go with a 5.0 EFI swap so I'm shelving the 351c efi project for now until I finally decide to rebuild my old 4bolt pantera engine (spun main bearing) to use in my 88 and then go efi on it.

having too much fun right now building my volvo/2.3t hybrid for the 88 right now to worry about the 351c...that and gas prices are just silly right now...

But wouldn't you have to shorten the shaft?
I dont remember correctly but I dont think so. PM me on saturday if you can or friday night later on in the night (since I usually go out with friends on friday) and that will basically remind me to check while I'm out at the local u-pull on saturday since I'm heading out there for a few generic parts for a recent 86 svo purchase I made...this should make us both happy now that you've got me second guessing myself since it's been a while since I've sold any duraspark setups...

i just got an autozone 1987 460 distributor and it has a circular plug with 3 large, flat, skinny pins. Is this the right distributor? the part number on the box says 30-2873 which i believe is the right part number i got off of this site. Is this correct?

A 1987 460 Distributor is a Duraspark unit, not an TFI unit.
damn it so does anyone know which one i need to match up to my 90's 5.0 cougar harness?

88-95 7.5 and convert it to an integral TFI. Been there.

ok thanks. i ordered one and i got it yesterday, and it the distributor plugs right into the harness. The donor car i got my stuff off of was a 92+ cougar and i believe it has a remote mount TFI. I looked in my Ford fuel injection book and i think TBirds and Cougars are the only ones to have this setup in 92-93. Is this a bad setup? I though i've kind of read that its better in that you can keep the TFI farther away from the hot motor.

well i thought i would just post what my setup is. I have a 351C with 4v heads roller cam, roller rockers, headers and thats about it. I've been trying to do this same setup. Right now i have an Edelbrock torker that i had a friend machine and press injector bungs into it. Its currently having the bungs welded solid. I also had him machine me a set of fuel rails out of some fuel rail stock. I have an 88+ 460 distributor for the ignition part, and i'm going to try to use this 92 cougar 5.0 wiring harness and EEC to control everything. Its going into a 37 ford and they make an aftermarket in tank fuel pump with a bucket for EFI setups and i plan to use that as it would be the cleanest setup. I hope to get some pictures soon of the setup. I have a few issues that i could use some suggestions on.
1. The fuel pressure regulator. Would there be any way to really mount a stock stang fuel pressure regulator to it? Right now the rails have a .5" hole in the back that i need to tap for threads is there anyway to mount a stock regulator to this setup or is the stock fuel regulator built in pretty much. I'd like to run the stock regulator because it would be setup right for the stock EEC and it would also be cheap.

2. Also i'm running 3/8's steel line from the tank up to the engine compartment what would be the easiest and cheapest way to connect this to the fuel rails/regulator? Those AN fittings are expensive and also i don't know what the hell the sizes mean.

The stock regulator won't work in this app. Also you may have trouble tuning it due to a lack of tuning support for the EEC you're using.

Aren't the EEC's interchangable? if so could I get one from a 5.0 stang and use it in the Cougar harness?

Depends if the Cat harness is wired identically to the 5.0 harness.

yeah, you'd probably just be best off going with a kirban adjustable or something similar to that and just setting the fuel pressure on it to whatever stock is.

you should be able to use the stock cougar ecu. I think the guys that make the SCT chips can pretty much use any ford EEC-IV or EEC-V ecu.

when you get this thing up and running I wanna see pics of it and details on your wiring changes and such. please keep notes ;)

I'm still in the planning stages on mine while I finish up my other 3 projects since I dont have room for another right now. actually just got done machining my fuel rail for my 16v svo project last night woot :joy:

Well i'm still waiting on my intake manifold to be done. I originally had a friend bore the holes in my fuel rails and my intake. He did a good job on all of the cylinders but one he got the bung way to close to the corner of the port. I took it to another friend that is boring the hole over in the center and then welding up the old hole and fixing the fuel rail to match. I stripped out most of the cougar harness of the junk but i found out the cougar harness and computer isn't set up for a MAP sensor which i think could be beneficial to my custom setup. I'm wondering do you think i could take a integral TFI 5.0 distributor and bolt the guts into this rebuilt 460 remote TFI distributor? That way i could get me a stang computer and harness. I found a guy locally that has a ron francis 5.0 harness for $250 but to use it i'd need an Integral TFI setup. Any input.
