Is this actually true? Plug side gapping

My plugs have the strap filed down even with the middle of the electrode, which opens it up halfway but still allows the spark to wear the electrode somewhat evenly. Also beveled the end of the strap to make a much sharper edge for easier arcing. I have no idea how much it helped since I put them in a newly rebuilt motor, but I don't think I saw much benefit because I don't have the plugs indexed which kind of defeats the purpose of opening it up.

Instead of dicking around with plugs you could buy those Bosch Platinum2 plugs. They are side gapped, but platinum electrode for long life.

best way to blow up your motor with a power adder- Platinum
best way to melt plugs on a "real" motor-Platinum

I've heard the Denso Iridums are suposed to be pretty good, they look like they are side stepped like that but with a sharper center electrode. Power adder people like them.

Also, I read an artical where they ground the electrode to a point for increased effect. Anyone want to elaborate on this?

I cut my own electrodes and side gap my plugs. I have been doing this for a while. It edoes seem to help. I hear it is 5-8 hp, which is what about half the advertised hp gain from under drive pullies that really ends up equating to about 8-10 hp on most cars? I tjhink i spend 30 minutes or so cutting and gapping the plugs. it is always worth a try if you dont; belive it. could be the cheapest mod you ever did.
