First off i would like to acknowledge the idea and inspiration for this project. The 5.4 N/A Thread

I would also like to thank Turbo54 for his diligence and second to none work ethic/commitment. He handbuilt my long block from oil pan to heads. It features the following...
5.4 Block bored/index-honed .020 with deckplates, Align honed, decked square
Forged 5.4 Crank
ARP main studs
Manley/Primeone rods with ARP 2000 bolts
Ross 10cc pistons
9.25:1 Compression
Ross plasma-moly file fit rings
clevite 77 trimetal race bearings
Fully Balanced rotating assembly
Billet Oil Pump Gears
Canton 7qt Road Race Oil Pan
03 Cobra Heads/Cams
I decided to go with a 5.4 after i blew my 4.6 about two months ago. Turbo54 came up with the proposition of building me a long block and i took delivery of it this weekend.
The only real challenge for me was figuring out how the Vortech would mount up to the 5.4. After some research and thinking i decided the easiest way to get the Vortech to mount up to my 5.4 was to use sections off the 4.6 timing chain cover. After i received the motor (i coulnt do anything until i recieved it) I cut the upper left sections out of my 99 cobra's stock 4.6 timing chain and the 99 5.4 Navigator timing chain i had bought at a junk yard. I then bolted the 5.4 cover to the block and then slowly removed material on both pieces until they mounted and mated perfectly. I then had them welded together in place on the block (just tack welds, it was removed from the block and welded there after).
Here is the stock 4.6 cover. You can see from the next picture how different it is from the 5.4

I then cleaned the cover and painted it. I installed the timing chain cover along with the valve cover, etc etc...
After she is lowered in i threw on the Reichard Racing 4.6 to 5.4 4V adpater plates.
Then the lower intake goes on... (i cut the lower off, milled the top, and filled the runners)
I then installed the fuel rails, injectors, etc etc...
Thats where i stand now...back to work tomorrow....ill be sure to add more as it comes along...hopefully be running tomorrow...sorry for any typos...but its 2am...time to sleep!
