You know you really don't see how great this software is until you get a chance to use it on your car. I had this chance Sunday. We tuned my most recent purchase, a mildly built up 94 cobra.

The car had been giving me some drivability problems and a few other minor startup and idle type stuff. Plus I was wanting to check the A/F and make sure I was running OK(the LM1 rocks also ) So we get it hooked up and burn a chip with a
base_file_tune. Right from the get go the car sounded better and idled for once LOL. We also hooked a probe into the MAF to monitor the MAF Voltage since we didn't have a tool
to data log the OBD-1 computer will have one soon though So now we go out make our first test, right off the get go I knew the car was almost perfect, drove perfect no more bucking in gear at low speeds and came to idle perfect, then onto the fun stuff

We made a full out pull to record the A/F and then back to the house. We get all the data up and the A/F was so close to right on it was awesome. We tuned the MAF_Transfer_function in a few places where we were not getting what we were commanding and did another test drive, same scenario and the car was dialed in perfectly which is super. The car now drives perfect and with the tune I am betting this particular car
picked up allot of horsepower all throughout the powerband. Like I said you just don't realize how awesome it is until you get your own personal use of it and I am even more impressed
now from the software and I was amazed with it before LOL.

Ok my praise is over just been awhile since I was able to post good stuff about one of my cars LOL.

Well this may have been true in the past but this is Superchips CUSTOM tuning which was created by Jerry from Fordchip and Chris Johnson from JMS these guys have tuned more cars than most people have saw LOL. They have put there knowledge into this and it is super and is teh best tuning software out there in my opinion. Feel free to read more about it @http://www.modulardepot.com/index.php?cPath=21

Yea they have tuned more cars
Not the average Joe.
and what do you mean you had to hook up probe to get the maf voltage. hell the tweecer gives you alot more controll over over the EEC. and real time data logging with maf voltage

We used the LM-1 to log A/F , RPM and MAF voltage. Makes it easy to keep it all together. Not sure what the sampling rate of the datalogging on the tweecer but the LM-1 is a very nice piece of equipment.

Ed C told me that he could not do anything for the OBD-1 computers, can SCT do their magic on these cars now?
Greg
You must have misunderstood him. SCT has always supported EEC IV cars. Maybe you are thinking about datalogging.

Ken

Greg,

The 94/95s are EEC-IV and OBD1. SCT Tuners have full control over the software. But compared to the EEC-V OBD2 cars you are missing a considerable amount of feedback from the computer that is important for tuning. They can be scanned for some data using special equipment, but it's not nearly as easy as PROPERLY tuning an OBD2 car.

So, to tune the older cars you have to try a little harder to aquire data from around the car. Other parameters can be calcualted fairly accurately. Or use a device like SNEEC.

Ed

94-95 Mustangs have a rudimentary form of datalogging built it, it's called DCL - Data Communications Link - some, but not all Fords since '91 have it. You can get a scanner to read real time sensor data with pretty decent speed with them. I use a Scantool for 94-95's but AutoXray makes a scanner that'll work too. For Fox Mustangs, as Ed mentioned, a SnEEC can be used, but since they are so simple, you can use an LM-1 to log the necessary parameters.

If you don't mind me asking, what all do you have in your COBRA? I'm just asking because mine only has bolt ons and I don't know if a superchip would even help me aat this point? just curious
I'm curious of the mods as well...
How about telling us what mods the car has, what were it's problems before tuning, and why/what you did to correct these issues. Give us some specifics...
I know someone on this same forum (can't recall the user name) cured all of his same type problems with an antiquated (supposedly) PMS...something that FordChip Jerry couldn't do. Personally, I domn't care what it does to fix the car, as long as it indeed fixes it...

Is this SCT stuff that much better than what FordChip used/uses, that even when the same guy pushes the buttons, it's suddenly 100 times better?? Not trying to bash or flame, just curious since I'm at the point of needing some tuneability to optimize my cars, and after reading all the problems with FordChip's customer service, they're not an option anymore....
