i went to a buddy's house to put in this new redline ATF i got. took us forever to get the 2 plug broke loose. after draining, i thread the lower plug in by hand and put the ratchet on it and start tightening....it didn't even get snug when *POP*, the casing right underneath it cracked....WTF WTF WTF.

we slapped a big ass glob of JB Weld on it, with more to go on tomorrow....tomorrow night i drop a quart of atf in there and see if it leaks....if not, i run it, if so, the dyno waits a while.....and the money saved for bullit brakes gets used on a stupid T5 instead

go with a tremec. the way i see it, when things break (or i break them) i like to upgrade instead of replace. makes me feel all warm inside when i spend a ludicrous amount of money on my car.

no seriously, the tremec isnt all that much more. i got mine from amp. i think i paid 1300 for the tranny and bellhousing. then i sent my old t5(100k w/bad synchros and gears) and bellhousing back for a shiny new pro 5.0 shifter. i paid shipping for the tremec and they paid shipping for the t5. its worth considering

sounds to me like it already had a stress crack there. Better to have found it now than later.

yeah, i can't afford a tremec now, i'm gonna take it in and get it welded

JB weld migh patch the leak, but it will never replace the structural strength of the original case. It might not leak when sitting still, but check it again when it is under load on the dyno.

Oh, and check it in 3rd gear, so the power is actually going through the gearset. 4th gear just goes straight through from input to output shaft.

mc racing in merriam

that is if the tranny is up to it...if not, it gets pushed back a week (and so do the rockers :( )

I did the same thing with mine, slobbed a bit of silicone on there and proceeded to run it into the mid 11's for about 50 passes with absolutely no problems.

I will call them today and see if they have a dyno.

I just called them and they have a dyno jet chasis dyno. They said to make 2 runs it costs $55. To rent the dyno for an hour it runs $115 and to have the A/F mixture read it is $30. So for $145 I can make full runs for an hour. They said they would let me do any tuning I wanted on the spot. Maybe if you get a chance Eric we can meet up there in a few months and we can put our heads together!Jeremy...found this on another forum:
