2001 GT, staying N/A. Gears and pulleys are on the way.
Been trying to decide on 2 Things, Induction, and Headers.

1) Induction:
This is what i have come up with... C&L 80mm w/ true flow inlet tube, or K&N PIPK. both manufacturers claim 18-20 hp. if i can get 10rwhp with either id be happy. So which one to go with?

Seems most of you say that a Throttle Body will do nothing on a N/A Car.

So...... what combination of mods will net you the best gains on a N/A Car?

2) Headers:
Was Originally thinking of Mac Long Tubes, untill someone advise me that they are great for high RPM racing around, but don't really gain you anything down low. where as shorties would prolly be better for me on the street.

so i have been looking onto Ford Racing Jet Hot coated shorties, and JBA Shorties. from what i have read most people say the Jba's are better, but i read a lot of posts where they tend to CRACK!.....

So.... What Headers to go with?

I would scrap the induction mods altogether, unless you'd like to put a ram air system on it. The MAF won't gain you much over stock. If you do anything to the induction, put on a Bullitt intake.

Exhaust, I would stay away from shorties, unless you're concerned about keeping a factory-sized midpipe on the car with factory cats. Mac L/T's will gain across the board for you, down low, mid range and up high. So will BBK's. Both moreso than shorties. FRPP's collector design isn't as nice as JBA's, IMO, so despite rumors about cracking, if you're hellbent on shorties, that's who I would look at.

L/T headers and a nice tubular front K-member will give you easier access whenever you do clutch or tranny work, while affording you good N/A power.

In summary, skip the TB and MAF, go with a Bullitt intake, and get longtubes.

Just my $0.02.

In May of 2002 MMFF did an article regarding some of your ?'s. I followed there article and did a before and after dyno test. I picked up about 22 HP by adding the C and L mass air kit with filter and 70mm TB. I also added a timing adjustor.

The TB on NA cars adds about 1 HP. Maybe more on power adder applications. The test in the magazine indicated 7.5 HPgain for a 80mm C and L mass air meter on the newer GT tested.

To me its all about combinations of mods and how they work together as a team. Different combos will react differently thereby providing different gains.

I have shorties which probably add about 5 HP on a NA application.

Just my .02.

2001truebluegt, your track times are most impressive for your HP. How much does your car weigh?

Thanks. Haven't weighed it in yet. Those times were run with my 240lb fat ass in the drivers seat, no passenger seat, no rear seats, no spoiler, no dogbone, nothing in the trunk, about 2 gallons of gas in the tank and no front swaybar. So whatever that works out to be ;)

I would not worry too much about the CnL MAF. You already have an 85MM MAF and all you need to do is some minor cutting and you'll have the same thing as a CnL. (but 5MM bigger).
I had very good results with a Mac Cold air intake, and Steeda Pullies. I went 13.7 @ 101 with just these mods (stock tries). I would also reccomend a set of gears drag radials. Either of the above sets of Mods will give really good results.
For the MAF mod, just do a search on here, I've helped quite a few people do it. Or if you want, you can send me your MAF and I'll send you mine back. I had to upgrade to a Univer because of my blower. I'm not sure if that would work though since mine is a 80, and yours is an 85.

ZincStang2001, I agree with what Doug says don't waste your money with TB or MAF's. Also, get longtubes not shorties!

Doug, Didn't realize you were that big:) J/K

gideup, I would love to see those dyno sheets with back to back runs on the same day with the aftermarket MAF and TB and with the stock MAF and TB. If you don't have them hosted please email them to me at redauenhauer@sherwin.com later Ron

Yeah, I gained all that weight eating up my competition.

If I got down to where I should weigh, I'd drop another tenth at the track.

If only beer didn't taste so good...
