so capped the return line, and I have pressure finally. Its slowly leaking off, so not sure if an injector isnt leaking somewhere or its just the cap, but clearly the the BBK FPR is not holding pressure. It sounds like it never, and as stated above, only got worse with a larger pump.

SOOO, now the question, is it really a problem and is it the cause of my hard starting? If replacement needs to occur, is Kirban the best option or is there something else out there?

If you cap the return line & it still leaks down, it indicates the fuel pump has no check valve. Mine leaks down slowly over several hours, with the old fuel pump, it would hold for 24 hrs. You only need some pressure so it won't "vapor lock" (a carburetor term, but applicable here).

Kirban has been in the business for a long time.

You may not know, but the Mustang Fox bodies & the Buick Grand National turbos did a lot of head to head racing, about 20 years ago.

Kirban FPR's were the preferred among the "old timers", before the days of ECU tuning.

put the kirban in, and pressure drops fast to about 20, and then slowly bled down over an hour or so. Not sure why it would drop so far so fast. Im really at a loss, and trying to figure out this dang hard start. Havent tried to start it with new FPR (cooling system is torn apart)

Is there a way to test the injectors?

Works just like mine.

Mine drops right away to almost nothing with a Aeromotive setup, and always has. My car starts fine all the time, pressure drop after prime or not.

As soon as the engine rolls and the PIP starts, the pump restarts and pressure is right back. I don't know why you would have a problem starting with that drop.

thanks Micheal. Havent tried the tune yet as I had been trying to resolve the fuel and cooling issue. After beating on the rig at high speeds in the dirt the radiator started leaking and needed to be warranted out. Hopefully I can get to it next week.
