I don't imagine that you will have much in the way of problems. I had the same tire/wheel combination on my '86, and it never rubbed. I heard that after '89 had a wider fenderwell too (although that I'm not 100% sure). If you do find that it is a concern, simply roll your fenders.
I actually have the car your looking for pictures of. A 91 black coupe with 17 cobra-r's in front and 18 cobra-r's in back. I lowered mine about 3/4 of an inch and it only rubs when I turn the wheel all the way to the right. And then only a little.
I dont have any pictures available but it looks good. I would suggest do it.
The 18's on the rear however do rub. If I have any weight in the car beyond me and hit a bump it rubs the inner fender well on the right side. I still have the 17s that match the front and will be switching back soon to run drag radials.
