I want to change my old tired seats with newer style mustang seats.

Which one are the nicest out there, and can you tell me all years that also fit.
Thanx

I think any of the newer ones will Fit... You just gotta do some customizing on the seat brackets and stuff. But I have seen just about anything and everything as far as seats go in them... Just sometimes takes some engineering on the brackets. Just keep askin around on here.. Cause I know alot of guys have newer seats in them.

I put seats from a 96 gt in the vert. The mounting points are the same, just had to run a wire for the power seat. I guess you could use any seat 79-04 because they are all fox body's.

I have 2001 GT seats and they bolted right up to my 1989 frames with longer bolts...

They are very comfortable, and compared to the older seats like night and day. The only issue is if you are tall it could pose a problem. The seats sit much higher than the originals, but mine were mounted on the 89 frame which required longer bolts (sits higher on that frame). I dont know if it would sit lower on a newer frame.

I dont seem to slip too much, but then again i dont autocross, or pretend to. The only times I have ever cornered hard I never noticed any difference.

I have the 02 GT seats in mine, front and back. They fronts fit fine with the stock 02 power track, but they do sit up a bit more. No problem for me at 5'9". But IMO they do not hold me in place as well as the 87 GT seats I had in my LX. They are more like my old LX seats. But I got them for a great price, so I will keep them for a while.

Is it the same one that the guy was doing here on corral? Just curious... cause that was really cool looking. Any links to the one on ebay?

Cool! The back seats will work in a fox?
You can make them work in a hatch I know, just takes some minimal modifications ;) Took me a couple of hours. I took the plastic seat backing panel out from my hatch seats and cut the outer corner to the shape of the SN95 one (they are curved, not squared like the Fox), then installed it into the SN95 seat. Then I cut out the seat backing to allow the installation of the hatch seat latch trim. then I installed the SN95 top latch trim and cut it so it would not interfere with the hatch fold down latch. I had to cut a new hole for the center pivot pins and mount the outer hinge on the outside of the seat, but it all works fine. All the rear seat mechanicals are Fox, the seat cover and padding are SN95. I even added some Halo Escort GT headrests in the back ala the New Beetle to cover the top plastic trim. Turned out very nice IMHO. For the seat base, I used the complete SN95 with padding, but I had to cut out about 30-40% of the padding along with some of the metal reinforcement bars to make it fit, but I wanted the bucket seat look as opposed to the flat Fox seats. I plan to use some foam to fill it up on the bottom and add some wood to mount it to as soon as I get a chance. Right now it is just sitting in place. I may have to do a write up on it for posterity.

Here are some pics:

I'll take some more with my new digi camera with the headrests pretty soon.

I like thatback seat idea. looking at the pics realy did help to see what all had to be done after reading about it. i anm going to be putting racing seats up front and was wantign to do something different with the back seat so it matched better. yuor sn95 rear seat is a good idea. I would hope you would do a complete write up about it, and some pics to show everything as well.

You think that rear seat concept would work in a coupe?

I've read about others that have used them in a coupe. There is a gap on either side of the seat back cushions that needs to be filled with something. I think one person wrapped some wood with foam and vinyl and attached it to the sides. I did write up a reply for someone asking about installing it in a coupe, including pictures and measurements of the SN95 rectangular seat back frame that the seats are mounted to in the new cars. The frame would have to be installed in a coupe for them to work. You would also have to do something about the top of the seats, or somehow use the SN95 back seat headrest part that is attached to the rear shelf in the SN95 cars.

I'll search and try to find that thread.

Here is a pic of mine right now:
