I did a search and didn't come up with much. Theres this PSM1.com but there site is giving me a bunch of casino gambling spam. Which automated switches are you guys using for it. I don't want to toggle manually. I drive my car too much to have to babysit that sorta stuff. Thanks.

I just let mine run all the time. The on/off cycling is what kills motors and relays, and the thermostat takes care of engine temp. I keep a toggle switch in the car just so I can kill it at the track or something. I just wired the relay into my stereo fuse so it comes on when the key is on.

Do not use that device with a Mark 8 fan, you will kill it. The relay is only rated for 30amps, and I have melted 30amp relays down to nothing with my Mark 8 fan. You need something with a beefy relay, like the Bosch power relays or something.

Hey Billy,

I use the Bosch relay with that unit, bypass the relay inside of it. You can have the 30 amp relay trigger the 75 amp relay. I've had that switch/combo on my car for close to 2 years without any problems. This is much better than the Hayden unit, I went thru 3 of them in the same time period.

I put my own together following Monte's design. It was a hassle getting all the little parts from different vendors, but was well worth it in the end. The link to his page is currently down, but the URL is floating around this board.

Allows for two speed operation.

Yeah, that should work fine. I just wanted to warn this guy about the too common undersized relays.

$30 bucks at Pep boys and I was done. I know people are gonna say not to use it, but the Hayden unit works just fine for me. Plus I can hard wire it in two seconds if it ever fails.

Thanks for the input on whats good and whats not. This guy Monte's webpage is the one that prompted me to start this thread. He stated that the Vari-something-or-other is out of business and the next best thing is this PSM1. Although kinda pricey, it made total sense in the fact that it monitors the temp going to the engine and the stat gets it on the way out of the engine. I like this principle. Works for me. What is this guy's username? I will PM him about it since the dist.'s site is down.

Once you turn one of those into plastic goo you'll think otherwise. Listen for it to keep running a couple of seconds after it should click off. That's a warning sign.
