Take off heads. Run some 10w30 oil on valves. Place some PlayDough or equivalent on the piston. Using old head gasket, or none and add thickness in later, put on head and torque down per standard procedure. Remove all spark plugs

Carefully very carefully, rotate piston/ valve assembly by turning crankshaft pulley. DO NOT FORCE if you feel ANY resistance.
Rotate if ok two full revolotions.

Take off head carefully and slowly so not to distort playdough.

Should have stuck to the piston and not the valve. Carefully slice thru playdough in a number of places to find the mininum clearance and measure it with a vernier caliper or use a paperclip and then hold it up to a caliper.

Piece of cake.
