What's a rocker arm? How does it differ from roller rockers found on pushrod motor? Rocker arms are found on modular motors, right?

Rocker arms on overhead cam motors are known as "roller cam followers." These are actually found under the cams on our cars. Rocker arms on pushrod motors are there to keep your valves open. Just like if you bought 1.73 roller rockers, your car (assuming it was stock) would keep the valves open for longer. Or would these make them open farther??
