I heard its there to take vibrations out of the rearend , not sure if you need it if you have an aftermarket gear...

It's a vibration dampener, often referred to as 'the dogbone'. Most people remove it, especially with different gears.

why take it out? what difference would that make.....2 lbs....i could poop 2lbs. Just asking?

i think the dogbone weighs more like 10# or 15#. at least mine did. just make sure you keep the upper piece on the axle housing. it keeps the driveshaft from hitting the floorpan.

Alright then to wrap this thread up... Take OFF the dogbone, Leave ON the bracket.
