Was just looking through some local flyers and they have a 70 AMP arc welder for 50$. I was thinking of welding up the engine bay in the next couple months. I have done arc welding in the past when I was in school. Will this welder be able to weld up the holes in the engin bay without to much trouble. Says it can weld steel up 1/8". This will probably be the only thing I will use the welder for on my car. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

Arc welding is a pain for thin sheetmetal, especially with all the cleanup you will have to do afterwards. You would be better off renting a flux cored MIG, or you can buy the cheap ones for 200.

Too bad you couldnt get your hands on a Mig wire welder that also has the gas bottle on it. That is the only way to go!! As said before.... you sure wont have the mess that an arc welder would leave.... but it can be done with an arc welder... just prepare for lots of grinding.
