Weiand 174 on a 350hp stock bottom or 475hp 347 in a 3600lb F150 C4 trans ?

I have a 10.8 comp 347 built making 475 flywheel. I still have the roller 5.0 with ported gt40s now probably 350ish hp. I feel that on 12ish lbs of boost that motor will make comparable power but more torque than the 347 with probably better mileage-mostly a cruiser. As long as the Weiand 174 isn't too bad to setup and tune of course. Which one would you go with and why

Honestly, if I was going boost with a blower - neither.

At 12psi you’re able to add probably 80% more power with a turbo. It’s more efficient and can generate less intake heat.

10.8 compression is quite a bit to start adding boost with this type of power adder.

If you are insisting on using the Weiand 174, I’d go with the 5.0. It will be happy down low and into the midrange, but will be inefficient and cause added unwanted heat.

if you’re ok being N/A I’d stick with the 347 and enjoy it.

if it were me, I’d sell the 5.0, sell the Weiand and buy an intercooled turbo system for low boost on the 347.

The 347 would be Na and the stock bottom 5.0 would be the boosted one. Just trying to weigh out the pros and cons to decide which route to go
Pros:
You have a 5.0 that’s worth something
You have a Weiand assembly worth something
You have a solid 347 to run N/A for now
Turbos are abundant and can be reasonably priced
You have the ability to drive with the 347 for the summer and not have downtime

Cons:
I assume the suspension is still stock, and could use some help even with the N/A 347
Even if you blower up the 5.0, I’d assume realistically the suspension still isn’t up to the task
If you sell the 5.0 engine and Weiand blower, you’d most likely be a little bit out of pocket for a single turbo w/ intercooler package
The biggest con of all……. If both blocks are of original Ford stock, this could be the weak point if you wanted to lay down serious power.

I already have the 347 on the stand-'71 block. I don't have the weiand 174 but the 5.0 shortblock and gt40 heads are in the truck now. I was just going back and forth with some idears before i put this 347 in is all. It's mostly a cruiser but i also want the most power, mileage and reliability obviously

People on the internet are not going to:

A- give you good advice for your needs.
B-tell you what you want to hear.

Build it how you want it and if you don’t like it when done then change it. Solved.
