I'm finally assembling my 95 351 Lightning (w/upgrades, of course )
to swap into my 89 to replace a very
tired 210k mile 302.

Would like to use an aftermarket hi perf water pump. All the articles I've read on the swap say to use the 302 pump.

Problem is, both Edelbrock and the stock replacement guys like Autozone list different pumps for the 95 Windsor V8 pickup and the up-to-93 HO 302, although the pic's in the Edelbrock catalogue look identical for what they list for the 5.0 95 pickup and the to-93 5.0 car.

What's the diff between the pickup and the car pump? Could I use the i.e. Edelbrock pump for the car?

BTW - any other pump anybody would recommend? Strictly street.

i have a STOCK replacement 5.0 water pump on motor in sig and sitting in traffic on a 90 degree day the car doesnt go over 200-205 degrees

Your combo is interesting - not too far from
mine. I've got a little less comp (95 Lightning
shortblock with hydr roller added) and a little
smaller cam but little better heads and torque
type efi (explorer over GT-40 lower)

Actually in a 4000 lb Lincoln Mark VII LSC
w/beefed AOD/2500 converter and soon
3:55's, so going strictly street torque.
Do lots of hiway miles, can't afford to
kill the mileage.

Your rear wheel power and esp torque is about
what I'm hoping for.

mileage isnt the greatest but i get about 10 in town and 15-16 on the highway

That's not a total disaster for 3:73's and a carb
- except I suppose you use premium.

I currently get 22 combo driving with a 210k mile
stock HO that I just converted to mass air in prep
for the swap, and 3:27 gears.

So, I should get hi teens with my mild
setup, and 87 octane. Good 'nuf for
another 100+ torque.
