I run autolite 3924's gapped @ .050. I run 18* timing using 93 octane. 18* works best for me compared to 14* cause I gained 1.5mph just by bumping it from 14*. Remember though I have a factory A9L comp which is better than the stock sn95 computers.
By "better" you must mean that its factory setings include more timing and hotter fuel tables. Because the SN95 EEC-IV computers are actually better at learning and adapting to different things as they run.
I meant better overall tune. Actually though I never heard anyone ever mention an sn95 comp being good at adapting to engine mods. In fact I always read about guys saying how their cars are surging from cam installs and how they are pinging w/ stock timing on stock motors.
