I am buying a 1984 Capri turbo RS it is wrecked in the rear owner says it was hit and run. Car has not been started in two years is there anything I need to do other than installing a new battery and changing the oil? Anything to watch for with the turbo? Did these cars have waste gates? How do the Capri turbo's compare to the anniversary (GT350) Mustang and the SVO mustang?

It was recommended to me before to pour a little oil into the spark plug holes. Also, turn the car over by hand to get the oil moving a little. On the turbo, check to make sure that the turbo spins freely and the shaft has little to no play (side-to-side movement). I have a turbo that was sitting for a while and was stuck, would not move. I just had to pour some oil in and force it around a little. Now it spins pretty easily.
Yeah, these had wastegates on the turbos. IIRC, the Capri Turbos are close the the GT Turbo Mustangs. In fact, the RS may have some extra goodies. The SVO is still the king of the hill, though.
