It's actually pretty easy--it only took maybe an hour and to do it myself. When you have the stock shifter off, make sure you apply some silicon between the tranny and the Tri-Ax so no transmission fluid can leak through. Good luck.

The only hard part is getting the old shifter loose.

I did mine two months ago and I am not really a grease monkey. Like they said the hardest part is removing the stock shifter. Here is how I got mine off. After removing everything remount the stock shifter lever back on the to shifter. With the 4 bolt removed rock the stock shifter back and forth using the handle. It broke the seal on mine pretty easy, don't be afraid if you have to use a little force it will be ok. It took me all of 45min. to put it on. I could probably do it in 20min. now.

My advice would be to get a qualified auto technition to do this work. Installing a shifter is a pretty sizable mod. I tried to do mine myself and ended up having to take it to a dealership to finish it. You need specialized tools as well as a college degree in who knows what!

No flame intended here but this is WAY over board. This mod is one of, if not the most, basic mods and if you can't do it then you REALLY should have everything else paid for, including changing wipers and oil. I know not everyone can/wants to "turn a wrench", heck I don't want to half the time, but when it comes to this mod..... I dunno you gotta kind of wonder. Hell I've got a buddy of mine that is scared to death to touch his "BULLIET"!! Yes Bulliet. and he did this mod. Take yoru time, read directions, ask questions, and then ask questions about the answers!!! If not come to Indy and I'll charge you an arm and a leg to install it!

Check out Joe Lynch's site. He has a GREAT method for breaking the old shifter loose with channel-lock pliers.

To me, the hardest part was removing the center console. Some say they have changed their shifter with the console in place, but my hands are too fat and stubby for that. I found that the trick is to pull like hell on the e-brake to get it as high as possible so you can slip the console up and over. The rest of the install is a walk in the park. Just make sure you don't drop bits of old silicone down into the tranny when you are cleaning it off. Also, I used high temp silicone.

I agree with Custom2kGt, if you can't do this, then you better pay to have your wipers changed as well.

Intalling a new shifter is a snap. The trick to removing the stock shifter base is to use a small claw hammer to pry up under the lip on the base of the shifter. Took me all of three seconds.

....look....this really really easy. the instructions are step by step, and very detailed. I can't actually believe some people had problems installing this shifter, assuming they had the correct shifter that is.

Give it a try, from the look of your sig, you know something about cars.

Not flaming you - but installing a shifter is very easy - you can so it with basic hand tools. Steeda gives you good instructions. IMO removing the old shifter was the hardest, I just took a short length of 2x4 and give the base 2 good hits - came right out. This is an easy and baisic mod - jump right in and have fun!
