Does anyone know what the pressure release is for a standard oil pump?

Reason I ask is my rebuilt motor builds 50psi by 3000 rpms but then never goes over that. In fact on hard third gear pulls it will build 50psi and then loose about 10 psi before my 6000 rpm shift.

I was under the impression that a standard pump would build at least 60psi since the consensus is always "standard pump is fine for a motor that stays under the stock rev limiter." Am I correct here or not?

Disclaimer: I do plan to either change the pump out or pull the motor to change the rod bearings. Im just trying to get an idea of what Im looking at and why my motor is not oiling like it should.
