I have a stock 87-93 alternator laying around that is shot. The bearings inside it must be shot because it whines bad and doesnt spin freely. I am wondering if I can have it rebuilt to higher amps, like 130a? This way, it will work w/ stock wiring and the stock bracket.

In a word: "NO". For one, external fan won't keep it cool enough. Powermaster has a high output version with an external fan, but it's still a 2G, not a 3G.

Just do the 3G conversion, bracket modification is the easy part, takes all of 10 minutes.
