I had 4.10s put in two years aga and the backlash was set wrong so about a year ago I had 3.73s installed. Since the 3.73s were installed when I let off the gas pedal at 45 mph and below theres a low knock. The shop that installed them went in again and checked their work and told me it must be the axle bearings. I installed new axle bearings and that didn't get rid of the noise. It has gotten louder but still only when there is no pressure applied to the gas pedal. Applying the brakes or going around corners does not chage the noise it makes. I noticed during the fourth of july weekend when I went camping the noise was gone. I assume the weight I had in the hatch somehow changed the angle of the driveshaft in relationship of the pinion. Is it possible that either lowering the rear end or getting adjustable upper control arms may get rid of the noise altogether? If so which route should I take or am I on the wrong track to begin with?
Thanks, Dean
