I have not heard of many lifters going bad, but I definitely have a problem like this on my 96 Lincoln. How many of you guys have ever had a lifter go bad? I'm thinking the oil flow might also be partially blocked.

There is a steady knock at idle. It is definitely uder the pass. side valve cover, in the rear. The problem goes away at 2000+ RPMs. The spark plugs were pulled and all look OK. Each plug wire was pulled off while the engine was running and the problem remained constant. It does not matter whether the engine is accellerating or decellerating. The car has been parked since the problem appeared; the only time it runs is for diagnostic checks.

Anyone? Thanks in advance.
