I know for a fact a 1" spacer won't work under the stock hood.

I have a 1/2" Spacer on a CObra Intake and it fits fine under a stock hood.

And no, i still need to pull the intake to remove the valve covers

Is the spacer's purpose rpm minded or some heat soak deterent?

On a carbeurated engine, a spacer (if memory serves) raises the rpm range.

W/ an efi set up, it lowers the rpm range. Shorter runner intakes (efi) respond better to higher revs. Putting a spacer on an efi intake effectively increases the runner length.

anyone can shoot me down on this if they care to.

My reason for it is to keep the upper intake cooler longer and it allows the upper to cool off faster when i pop the hood at the track.

From what i've read, short runner intake favor top end HP while long runner intakes favor low end torque. My car is a street car so i prefer the low end power.

Of course, i didnt notice jack whn i put mine on other than a cooler intake
